Description: I'm currently listing a large number of playbills representing some of the most memorable Broadway performances (good and bad) of the 1950's and 1960's ....... This is a rare October 1968 preview playbill from the Original Broadway production of the HUGO PERETTI, LUIGI CREATORE and GEORGE DAVID WEISS musical "MAGGIE FLYNN" at the ANTA Playhouse Theatre in New York City. (The production played six preview performances before officially opening October 23rd, 1968. The show closed after only 82 performances.) ..... The musical starred SHIRLEY JONES and JACK CASSIDY (both shown in the cover photo) and featured ROBERT KAYE, WILLIAM JAMES, SIBYL BOWAN, JENNIFER DARLING, PETER NORMAN, ROBERT MANDAN, ROBERT ROMAN, AUSTIN COLYER, STANLEY SIMMONDS, CHARLES RULE, BETTY LINTON, HAZEL STECK, NICK MALEKOS, BILL BERRIAN, MITCH TAYLOR, STEPHANIE MILLS, IRENE CARA, SHARON BROWN, GIAN CARLO ESPOSITO and DAVID VOSBURGH ..... CREDITS: Book, Music and Lyrics by HUGO PERETTI, LUIGI CREATORE and GEORGE DAVID WEISS based on an idea by JOHN FLAXMAN; Sets designed by WILLIAM and JEAN ECKART; Costumes designed by W. DETAILS: The 70 page playbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and bios of each of the leading actors and members of the creative team but with the exception of the front cover, no cast photos. Includes a full page ad for the Original Broadway Cast recording of "HER FIRST ROMAN" on Atlantic Records (last scanned image). Plans to release the album were scrapped when the show closed after only seventeen performances ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
