Jan McLean POPPY Flowers of the Heart 15" Porcelain blonde w/baby carriage

Description: This auction is for Poppy 11, from New Zealand doll artist Jan McLean’s fabulous 1996 Flowers of the Heart collection. She is #159 of 500 worldwide and retailed for $900 in 1996. Poppy has lovely platinum mohair hair and exquisite (and accurate!) period clothing – pure shot silk and lace vintage style trimming, black stockings and shoes. Poppy’s little fabric dolly with hand-made McLean bedding riding in a vintage baby buggy is wonderful all on its own. Poppy is adjustable and poseable. She is 15" tall and "all porcelain" (head, body and limbs) Poppy was carefully manufactured by hand She is engraved with the year she was sculptured on the back of her head. Each doll is made from the finest porcelain fired to 1220 degrees C, then all her features are hand-painted between the next five china firings. Unfortunately, Poppy had an accident sometime after she left New Zealand and there is a repaired crack in her neck - it's not obvious (I had to really look for it) but it's there and I photographed it as best I could. Poppy's exquisite period costume is made from the finest quality fabrics and laces all sewed lovingly by hand. Each costume has Jan McLean's designer label sewn on to each garment. The doll's shoes and boots are all made by hand from the finest New Zealand leather. Poppy is hand-signed by Jan McLean on the back of her head and also comes with her signed Certificate of Authenticity. Obviously, Poppy is not minty-new since I've had her for 25 years but she's aged better than I have, aside from the repaired crack in her neck. She will travel in her original Flowers of the Heart Jan McLean box next to the box her carriage came in. These are photos of the exact Poppy & Carriage that you will receive. Please ask questions if you have them as all sales are final but check my feedback and bid with confidence. I charge a $4 handling fee which I will apply to fully insure Poppy on her trip to her new home. If full insurance costs more than that, it's on me. I understand if shipping via USPS looks prohibitively expensive (which is due to the size of the box). Do yourself a favor and check out the UPS and FedEx options I also offer. Frequently (but not always) they're less when it comes to larger items. Please don't tell me that my shipping is too high because, unfortunately, I have never once been consulted when a carrier sets their rates.
