The tang has long signature: Shimosaku Echizen tempo The yari blade is made out of TAMAHAGANE, the metal (iron) that's been used in old Japan to make swords. It is the Sankaku style yari - triangular shape. The blade is from late Edo period (around 1800-1850). It has mokume grain and a nice hamon - the hamon style is narrow straight - SUGUHA STYLE. The blade is in a great condition. It is really a beautiful piece. Great workmanship on the blade, great piece for a Japanese antiques collector.
