The Jax Tars, a South Atlantic minor league baseball team in Jacksonville, Florida, from 1926 - 1952, became the Jacksonville Braves in 1953 when Samuel W. Wolfson bought the franchise and affiliated with the Boston Braves. This team featured soon-to-be Major league players like Hank Aaron and Félix Mantilla. In 1961, the team's major league affiliation shifted, and they became the Jacksonville Jets for the 1961 season.
