Description: The Rangemaster Germanium Boost This pedal is built around a vintage black glass OC44 or OC71 germanium transistor (let us know what you prefer!). We use an analog voltage inverter so you can power the pedal with either a standard (center negative) power supply or a 9v block battery. The basic feature set is the “boost” control and the “EQ” control. With the "EQ" set fully counterclockwise, you have a classic treble boost. Turning up the EQ control adds more low frequencies, bringing you into classic NWOBHM territory. An additional 3-postion "top cut" switch can cut either high treble interference, or roll off upper treble for a more "cocked wah" style mid boost. Clapton used the treble boost style Rangemaster for his immortal "Beano" sound, whereas Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath used a modified "full range boost" to achieve his proto-metal sounds. You can tune our pedal to find the sweet spot for your own tone. Grab one of these pedals for your rig while limited supplies of the vintage transistors last. They are becoming extremely rare, and before long, they'll be gone for good.
