Description: Jorge Reyes | CD | The Flayed God USED Rare, hard to find CD in VERY GOOD Condition Jorge Reyes Valencia (1952 - 2009) was a Mexican musician born in Uruapan, famous for making fusions of different types of music, spreading pre-Hispanic music through his records. The musician was characterized by presenting Mexican popular music and conceiving his concerts as if they were pre-Hispanic ritual ceremonies, in which he outlined the research he had acquired in his travels to formulate what is the basis of his sound proposal, mixing indigenous sounds with the advanced music technology for sound processors, harmonizers and throaty sounds. An example of this mixture were the traditional concerts offered on the Day of the Dead in the Sculpture Space of the UNAM, vindication of the sacred principles of pre-Hispanic cultures, where the musician appeared disguised as a jaguar. His tireless search for different indigenous musical expressions led him to use countless instruments of Mesoamerican origin, both percussion, such as drums, teponaztlis, turtle shells, stones and rattles, as well as other wind instruments: ocarinas, tlapizallis, trumpets of snail, wind whistles, funeral flutes, double flutes, etc. The sound of these instruments, together with voices in the form of prayer and guttural songs, were the elements of Jorge Reyes's work that were reflected in more than thirty albums, in addition to the countless presentations around the world. His close and regular work with indigenous Mexicans, such as the Huichol, had a central influence on his work.
