Artist Bio:Judy Friday is a contemporary American landscape painter whose practice focuses on depicting large bodies of water. Taking the Connecticut River and the Long Island Sound as inspiration, she evocatively captures the haze and light that bounce off water. “The act of painting the sky begins the moment I open my eyes to the new day,” the artist has said. “If there is something out there that inspires me, I can't get to my spot on the shore fast enough. I throw my painting gear in the car and drive too fast, saying the whole way, ‘don't go, don't change,’ but the sky is always changing.” Born in Columbus, OH, she went on to graduate from Ohio State University and study at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts College from 1987 to 1993.
