Description: The Contemporary Architects Concept Series is a series that presents concepts by young architects who are building architectural ideas that are different from modernism-postmodernism, the driving architectural principle of the 20th century. The second in the series is Junya Ishigami. Ishigami is an up-and-coming architect who was selected to participate in the 11th International Architectural Exhibition at the Venice Biennale. As the theme of the Japanese Pavilion 'EXTREME NATURE' suggests, his work has been steeped in extreme concepts from the very beginning: the 9.5m x 2.6m x 1.1m, 3mm thick 'Table' (2005), the 14m high, 1t heavy 'balloon' (2007), Kanagawa Institute of Technology (KAIT) Kobo (2008), a 2,000 sqm space with 305 columns. Through the creation of multidisciplinary works in architecture, landscape, topography, installation, furniture and fine art, he has discovered new ways of being and creating space, and continues to propose his gentle ideas in a variety of ways. This book is similar to Ishigami's work, where tiny illustrations (sketches, drawings, illustrations, paintings, collages, photographs) and text meet at an extreme level.
