Description: DC COMICS DC Studios DC Cinematic Universe First Appearance Key PEACEMAKER SE02 (2025) First Appearance: A.R.G.U.S. (Organization) First introduced by Geoff Johns and Gene Ha in 2012’s JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 (VOL 2), A.R.G.U.S. -- or, the Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans -- is a United States federal agency that is tasked with dealing with superhuman level incidents that tend to be outside the purview of a more "typical" organization. In Johns' series, A.R.G.U.S. was established to support the newly-formed Justice League -- at least, ostensibly. Later, the organization's objective or mission seemed to change, especially as more questionable characters like AMANDA WALLER became associated with it. DC Studios' head James Gunn teased an updated logo for A.R.G.U.S. as he began filming the second season of HBO's PEACEMAKER in mid-August 2024. The organization will apparently factor into the upcoming season's story-arc, but little is known what its role will be. That said, A.R.G.U.S. is also not an unknown presence in DC's recent movies. First mentioned in marketing material for Zack Snyder's Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, A.R.G.U.S. would later appear in several DCEU projects including Suicide Squad, Black Adam, and Gunn's own The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker (Season One). We here at THE 'SQUATCH are of the opinion that A.R.G.U.S. as well as the Creature Commandos will fill the "Secret Government Agency" void left in the wake of TASK FORCE X being dissolved. How long A.R.G.U.S. sticks around, though, remains to be seen, as we believe Gunn's objective is to build one agency upon the other until he reaches his final destination with the introduction of CHECKMATE. Let us know your thoughts on Gunn's plans, and if you think Checkmate will ever be coming to the new DCU. In the meantime, there's no better time than today to give your collection exactly what it deserves.
