Description: On offer, we have "Caribou Hunting" by Kiakshuk. This is an original stone cut engraving, pencil signed by the artist with symbols, "7/50" and "1963". The back has "7/50", "Caribou Hunting" and "Kiakshuk". This is on woven paper with an impressed mark. The paper is approximately 12 1/2" X 18" with the engraving 10" X 12". About the artist: Kiakshuk (1886-1966) was a Cape Dorset, Canadian Inuit artist who worked in both sculpture and printmaking. Kiakshuk began printmaking in his seventies and is most commonly praised for creating "real Eskimo" pictures that relate to traditional Inuit life and mythology. This is a perfect example of his work. I believe this is in excellent condition. The print is bold, clean and clear. The generous margins have tape marks from where this was once framed. This has been handled and there are some very faint wrinkles in the paper. As I am not an expert on art, please see my photographs for more description. This is from my friend who collects everything and is starting to part with some of his treasures. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping.
