Description: VINTAGE KOREAN WAR U.S. AIR FORCE 8TH FIGHTER BOMBER WING CORONA CIGARETTE LIGHTER. The lighter reads "8th FTR. BM. WG." along with the insignia on one side and reads "NCO OPEN MESS SUWON KOREA" on the other side. The insignia originally had a painted finish but most of it has worn away only leaving remnants - see close up photo. Bottom is marked "SPECIAL QUALITY CORONA TRADEMARK". I am not sure exactly what year the lighter was manufactured but the 8th Fighter Bomber Wing was stationed at Suwon, South Korea between August, 1951 - October, 1954 to give an indication. Lighter measures roughly 2 1/4 inches high X 1 1/2 inches wide. Lighter is in overall good & worn condition. I have not tested the lighter but I see no reason why it would not work. Just add flints & fluid if so desired. The 8th Fighter Bomber Wing saw action during the Korean War and is credited with downing 18 enemy aircraft. The Medal of Honor was posthumously awarded to Major Charles J. Loring of the 80th Fighter Squadron, which was attached to the 8th Fighter Bomber Wing. ***CHECK OUT MY OTHER LISTINGS & ADD ME AS ONE OF YOUR SAVED SELLERS FOR MORE VINTAGE MILITARIA*** I am always happy to combine shipping for multiple items purchased whenever possible.
