Description: Antique/Vintage JESUS "INRI" Catholic Christian Church Copper and Wood Crucifix Religious Cross Provenance: This came from the 1st Presbyterian Church of Caldwell, New Jersey. The original church was erected in 1779. A Parish house was built in 1922 but was later torn down in 1958 to build a new Christian wing. Our brother in law who is in his 70's, was born and raised in Caldwell. His father was a pastor of this church likely around the mid century period. It is possible that his great or even great great grandfather were also pastors of this church. We believe that this is where the origins of this cross began. While we were researching, we found his surname, Mahon in some of the history records of the church dating back to the beginning - 1779. Wooden cross measures 30" long x 14.5" wide and 7/8" deep. Copper Jesus measures 12.5" long x 7.75" wide and about 1.75" deep. Copper "Inri" plaque measures 3" long 1.5" wide and about .25" deep. Pre-ship weight is 3 lbs. 10 ozs. Condition: In very good vintage and/or antique condition. Wood is nicely aged with even tones. Bronzed finished copper has patina and shows some wear in spots. One nail is missing at feet. Does not affect it when mounted on a wall. Metal hanging loop on top is solidly implanted. Ready to hang up on a wall. Review photos for full details and to confirm condition.
