The teeth are in fantastic condition and measure .6 to .9 inches! One or two teeth might have a repaired break but none are restored! Orthacanthus is bizarre prehistoric shark that lived tens of millions of years before the first dinosaur. There were several species of Orthacanthus, some reaching ten feet in length. All species had a long spine coming out of the back of their head that may have been venomous. Unlike modern sharks, it lived in fresh water. It made its home in the temperate swamps of the supercontinent Pangea. Orthacanthus teeth are as unusual as the animal itself, having two serrated blades on a single root, often with several tiny teeth called cusps between them.
