Lego Vintage Set Number 1682, Space Shuttle, Produced in 1990

Description: Lego vintage set number 1682, Space Shuttle, was produced in 1990 and contains 392 pieces (as per Peeron.com web site), which is inclusive of 3 mini figures, 2 mini figure caps, 1 mini figure helmet with translucent light blue visor, 1 combination open end wrench and screwdriver, 2 jet engines, 1 winch and one 32 x 32 baseplate. The set was purchased new by the seller in 1990 and is, with one substitution, 100% complete. Two black flexible hoses with tabs have been substituted for the two black hoses without tabs that originally came with the set. The set is in excellent used condition, which means that there is minimal overall wear on the set’s pieces. Some of the set’s white pieces show slight discoloration but that discoloration has not caused the pieces to turn tan or brown in color. Some of the decals placed on the set no longer adhere tightly to where they were placed and two of the NASA decals placed on the open top astronaut transport vehicle with four wheeled trailer were erroneously applied upside down. Includes the original Lego building instruction book for the set, which is in excellent condition. The set provides for the construction of (1) a space shuttle launch pad with a service tower, (2) a winch operated crane that can lift and move the space shuttle’s booster rocket, (3) a space shuttle with a primary rocket and two booster rockets, (4) an open top astronaut transport vehicle with four wheeled trailer and (5) a small satellite. The service tower has a hinge mounted support module that wraps against the space shuttle prior to launch and a crane arm at the top of the tower is mounted on a rotatable base that allows the crane to be rotated a full 360 degrees. The crane lift ring is extended and retracted by rotation of the winch located at the base of the service tower. A storage compartment at the rear of the space shuttle has a hinge mounted roof that allows it to be easily raised for storage compartment access. The main shuttle bay contains a hinge mounted arm to which the set’s constructed satellite can be attached for launching into space. The main shuttle bay is covered by four hinge mounted enclosures that are easily lowered for shuttle bay access. The open top astronaut transport vehicle’s trailer is easily attached to and detached from the transport vehicle. There are no extra pieces included with the set. The set was built by the seller to ensure completeness. The primary rocket and the two booster rockets are shipped assembled and the balance of the set is shipped disassembled. A receiving signature will be required upon delivery.
