Decorative Cloth Hardcover. - Hetzel, Paris 1881, In-8 (16.5x24.5cm), 375pp., hardcover. - First edition. 68 illustrations, including 14 out-of-text based on drawings by Benett and Meyer. Original red publisher's cloth, pictorial front cover and decorative spine gilt, back cover stamped in black. Edges gilt. Decorative cover has surface wear, rubbing and scuffing, light fraying on edges and corner tips lightly bumped. There appears to be some minor random water staining on back boards and back pages which do not affect text. Catalogue AQ for the year 1882. First 2 plates fine with original tissue guard between etchings. Title page creased on topmost corners with page 1 which has smaller top corner creased. A few pages have minimal creasing and tiny closed tears. Some fading or sunning on spine of book. Heavy book with thick paper, a bit shaken, can be easily restored by buyer. Good Condition commensurate with age and use, classic old book scent as is usual.Securely packaged. Mailed via USPS.
