Lesney Matchbox Original Empty D2 Box for 33b Ford Zephyr Six Mk III VNM

Description: Original type D2 Matchbox by Lesney box for the 33b Ford Zephyr Six Mk III; model first issued in 1963 and deleted in 1967. This attractive, porthole design D2 box was likely produced sometime in 1964 because, before that, it showed plain tabs. In late 1964 or early 1965, it was issued in an E3 box. This D2 type box was produced for Lesney by Bowater-Scott printers (the logo is under the long core glue tab.). A D2 shows Arial font and the numbers with serifs. The D2 boxes were made, with a few exceptions, for only a relatively brief time and are popular with collectors, especially in this beautifully well-preserved condition.
