Description: Lot of FOUR -- Educational **Budgie / Parakeet Books** Sadly, my time of ownership of budgies has ended -- over 20+ years. Some of these I picked up simply because I liked the illustrations, vintage or otherwise. One was actually purchased brand new in 2000, after rescuing my first little friend from the free pile at a garage sale (true story). "Parrakeets" -- by Herbert S. Zim. Illustrated by Larry Kettelkamp. Copyright 1953. A child's hardback, prior school library book. Has markings from discard, school stamps (Alki School), remnants of checkout pocket and stamps on the first few inside pages. I believe at one time it had a dustjacket that was removed, and portions of the inner flaps were glued to the inside of the back page. Absolutely gorgeous pencil illustrations throughout the book, such attention to detail! Unfortunately, lower corner of pages has serious loss and damage -- maybe someone's parakeet chewed on it? Or just due to age. I don't know. In acceptable condition, based on this damage. 64 pages. Measures approx. 8"x6½". "Everything about Parakeets (Budgies)" -- by Milton R. North. Published and copyrighted by Hartz Mountain Products Corp. Not dated, but seems 1950s in my opinion. All color pictures of parakeets photographed from live birds. Softcover, more like a stapled pamphlet than a true book, but a neat vintage piece. In good condition. 36 pages. Measures approx. 9"x6". "An Owner's Guide to The Budgie" -- by Julie Rach. Hardback, copyright 1997. ISBN: 0-87605-500-5. A very nice guide for the beginning bird owner. Very good condition. 126 pages. Measures approx. 8½"x5½". "Why Do Parakeets Do That?" -- by Nikki Moustaki. Illustrations by Buck Jones. Softcover, copyright 2002. ISBN: 1-889540-97-8. From the creators of BirdTalk Magazine, these are the real answers to the curious things parakeets do! This is just a fun read with some absolutely hilarious color illustrations! Answers some of the most common questions in a fun way, and educates for pet ownership as well. Front cover has a crease/bend, in fair condition due to that. 72 pages. Measures approx. 7½"x5½".
