This auction is in fact for 6 gemstones. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused. Lot of 6 natural untreated and uncut sapphire rough crystals from Rock Creek, Montana. I purchased this rough back in 2004 in a larger 50 gram parcel directly from the original prospector who had access to a small placer deposit in Rock Creek, Montana. I never got around to cutting or cabbing any of the rough from this lot, and after being asked by several customers if I had any uncut Montana sapphires I decided to list these. You will receive the exact 6 pieces in the picture. Pictures were taken under a bright OTT light to show better detail and coloring. They are also showed backlit with a pen light to show translucency - transparency of the stones. Includes 6 pieces measuring 3-8 mm per side Total combined weight of 10.39 carats The sapphires in this rough gemstone lot have assorted cool lightly saturated colors, such as purple, blue, green and grey. These gems are solid sapphire rough gemstones from an alluvial placer deposit. They don’t have any matrix or host rock stuck to them. Alluvial crystals are often preferred because after thousands of years of weathering (tumbling down a river and having debris constantly washing over them) all that often remains is the best part of what the rough crystal originally started as.
