Description: Outstanding collection of 14 WW2 Art Prints from Sailor and Artist Clarence J. Tibado taken from his first-hand accounts serving aboard the U.S.S. Pensacola during WW2. Each measures 14 x 11" and includes folder with Artist Bio and list of several of the works in this lot / collection. The Collection within this folder was published to include a total of 13 but this collection includes 14. However, not all of the works listed within folder are included. So, we are unsure how the total collection came together. There are two separate works entitled U.S.S. Pensacola. fyi Tibado (1920-2014) donated several of the original artworks on canvas to the Smithsonian in 1957. His sister donated another in 2015. He grew up mostly in Florida and headed to Hollywood to become an illustrator. He was semi-successful in his profession but joined the Navy at beginning of War partly to avoid the Army. Little did he know he would serve on one of the most battle-active ships during WW2 with the Pensacola being awarded 13 Battle Stars including Iwo Jima. Okinawa and Midway. Each work is pictured so please examine closely as large part of description. Some have minor discoloration around border but overall they are in nice condition. The folder has wear including small tears on edges and spine but still holding together well. This unique and rare collection 'ships' fast and FREE Signature required.
