Description: Offering a mixed lot (20) antique architectural cast iron Snowbird Ice Snow Stops. 13 are matching and made by S & S Mfg. Co of Slatington, PA, with a patent date of Oct. 23 , 1906. There are a few others from S&S Mfg. but in different styles, and the rest are mixed. The lot of (13) measure approx. 10" long, 6" wide, and 3-3/4" high. These type of snow stops were typically found on slate roofs here in Pennsylvania, and were meant to break up dangerous sheets of ice and snow falling off of a roof. These snow stops are being offered in as-found condition. They do have rust and pitting, and a few may have to have small bends hammered out. Some do have some tar on them, as well. It would only take a little elbow grease to clean them up, and they still are in usable condition, but they are being offered in otherwise unrestored condition. There are plenty of pictures for you to see the exact condition. These snow stops are in two parts, and the shaft hooks into the upright section, and is nailed to a roof and then covered with shingle, and they are still in working condition. Or, they can be repurposed as a candle holder, flag holder, book end, wall shelf bracket, or any other creative idea you have. Being sold as a lot at only $6.25/each which is well below market.
