For your consideration is this SCARCE VERSION and absolutely genuine vintage 1934 Louis Schoen's Lager Beer, Wausau Brewing Co. WIS., 4.25" diameter “oval center” drink coaster. Authentic vintage Schoen’s Old Lager Beer coasters like this uncommon version (oval center) are rarely seen outside of private breweriana collections. Please note; I chose to be conservative in my description and elected to list this 90 year old beer coaster as being “used” strictly because of its age and the fact it has been handled over the years. In all honesty, and as can easily be confirmed in the description photos, this coaster has NEVER BEEN USED. Refer to all the description photos for more details. The coaster is made out of pressed paperboard and weighs approximately ½ an ounce and measures approximately 4.25” in diameter. Refer to description photos #10 and #11 to confirm the diameter size of the coaster and for more details about what I have described. The coaster remains in very good condition, especially for being 90 years old. The coaster has “identical” graphics and advertising print on both sides. The red color remains vibrant as well as both the graphics and advertising print being clearly legible. As can be seen in the description photos, the coaster is round. However, the “center” features a white “oval” with red colored graphics and print. Note; I was informed by another vintage beer coaster collector that this “oval” center version depicting the Schoen’s Beer brand is earlier than the more commonly found “round” center versions. The top edge along the perimeter of the coaster shows scattered minute chipping from honest age and handling over the past decades. None of the noted chipping overly detracts from the overall nostalgic eye appeal of the piece. The surface of the pressed paperboard white inner oval design has darkened slightly with age but overall retains a very clean and unused look. More importantly, it is clearly evident this drink coaster has NEVER BEEN USED as can easily be confirmed by the fact there are NO MOISTURE STAINS anywhere on either the front or back sides of the coaster. Although it is a bit difficult to differentiate between the two sides, refer to all the description photos for a closer examination of both sides of the coaster. Overall, this vintage 1934 Louis Schoen’s Old Lager Beer coaster is scarce and remains in very good overall condition. This coaster is a sought after piece of breweriana and any collector would appreciate acquiring the piece to add to their beer memorabilia collection and display. It may be awhile before you are lucky enough to come across another “oval center Schoen’s Old Lager Beer coaster of equal quality again.
