Description: Machined 18" Lightweight Cast Iron combination Straight Edge/Prism/Precision Level/Parallel. No one else offers this robust and versatile design.These castings weigh about 12 pounds as cast and is machined to about 10 or 11 pounds depending on the user's preference. When machined the sole and inclined face are flat within .0015" of flat and the upper rail is parallel to the sole within .0015" This tool was designed to accommodate a 20-arc second precise machinist level vial and mount mechanism made in the US by Geier and Bluhm. Their part number is 4-3064-20. (Mounting the vial naturally requires some additional machining of the casting.) The level vial is NOT INCLUDED with the casting. Standard machining does NOT INCLUDE holes for a vial. The upper face is about 2.25" wide and the lower face is about 3" wide prior to machining. The top rail is about 2.5 inches above the lower face prior to machining. There is a finger recess provided to avoid scraping into a blind corner---this makes for easy scraping of the top face. The angle between faces is about 45 degrees.
