Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-CA X-NONE X-NONE This is an elegant, finely executed mantel clock made c 1905 for the high-end Yorkshire jewellery store, Manoah Rhodes. Manoah Rhodes, silvermaker, watchmaker and jeweller, founded his business in Bradford in 1836 and became one of the largest jewellers in the north of England. He died in 1881; in 1888, his family incorporated as Manoah Rhodes & Sons Ltd.That is the brand name on the face of this clock. The actual maker of the clock is not noted--there is no maker's mark. The words 'Made in France' appear on the face and on the back plate. This clock is mahogany, with light wood inlay and ebony trim around the face and the base. The surround of the face, and at the ends of the little columns, are brass. The winding key is included. The face is brilliant white enamel with black Roman numerals. There is some dust under the crystal; all of the brass needs polishing. It is 8 1/2" high, It is 3 1/2" deep and 6 3/8" wide.Weight is 3 1/2 lbs. All condition issues are visible in the photos. We have owned this clock for about 30 years, and has been in constant use. It has never been serviced, but it works perfectly.
