Mario & Gaetano Casella guitar, early 20th century

Description: Mario & Gaetano Casella guitar. It was made in Catania, Sicily in the beginning of 20th century. Mario Casella was a Catanese maker of instruments. Apparently for awhile he also worked with his brother Gaetano. Catania has had an extensive history of instrument making, including mandolin production, though a much of this ended during the war as the city was heavily bombed. Some Catanese luthiers survived, or began again after the war and continue to this day. The guitar is in need of professional repair, has cracks at both the top and the back. There is also what I would consider a bad repair, It seems that the headstock joint failed at some point and someone glued it and nailed it not in the right way.
