Description: The Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 is probably the most famous electric locomotive ever produced by any railroad anywhere in the world. Possessed of great power (up to 8000hp), speed and endurance, the Pennsy GG-1s were considered to be the best-looking electrics as well. Although weighing some 213 tons, these engines were bold and sleek, aesthetically pleasing combinations of speed and grace. A consummate expression of good taste. The all-color archive film in this program was particularly chosen for its action. It was taken over a thirty year period from the mid 1950s to 1983. Scenes are grouped in north to south geographical order. Starting at the huge Sunnyside Yard in Long Island City, NY, you are taken down the Pennsy mainline through Penn Station in Manhattan, across the Jersey Meadows and on to view the Gs in action at such locations as Newark, Elizabeth, New Brunswick, Princeton Junction, Trenton and Philadelphia. With sharp, snappy editing and excellent, accurate sound dubbing, you will view the GG-1 from every angle! All paint schemes worn during the 30 year period are seen. One Hour - Color Archive Film Written and Produced by Marc S. Balkin - Narrated by Bill Zagorski *DVD*
