The boards are in good minus condition with light rubbing to the leather. The binding is tight and square. This is an extremely rare book, possibly a limited edition and only a few copies worldwide. George Hall Hamilton (b. 1884) was an astronomer, and former professor of astronomy at Bellevue College, Nebraska. From 1917-1922 he was an astronomer at the Lowell Observatory, and from 1922-1924, the Harvard Observatory. Professor Hamilton was an enthusiastic observer of Mars, and a proponent of the theory that Mars was inhabited by intelligent beings, due to what appeared to be a vast network of canals.
