Description: This is a rare April 10th, 1910 broadside (single page playbill) from the one-week, Pre-Broadway engagement of the BOOTH TARKINGTON and HARRY LEON WILSON comedy "MRS. IRWIN" at the Lyric Theatre in Cincinnati, Ohio. (The play's title would be changed to "Getting a Polish" before opening on November 7th, 1910 at Wallack's Theatre in New York City where it would close on December 17th, 1910 after 48 performances.) ..... The play starred MAY IRWIN in the title role and the cast included HARRY HARWOOD, JOSEPH JEFFERSON, ISABELLE LEE, HOWARD SLOAT, HOWARD HULL, GEORGE OBER, JOHN ARDIZONI, J. T. CHAILLEE, FRANCES GAUNT, CLINTON HAMILTON, ALBERT TWEEDY and HELEN BAIN ..... Side note: Composer IRVING BERLIN (not credited) wrote three songs for the show which were sung my Miss Irwin; "That Opera Rag", "My Wife Bridget" and "He Sympathized With Me" ..... CREDITS: Book by BOOTH TARKINGTON and HARRY LEON WILSON; Sets designed by GATES and MORANGE; Staged by HUGH FORD; Produced by LIEBLER and Company ..... DETAILS: The single page, one-sided program measures 4 5/8" X 11 3/4" inches, is printed on a newsprint stock and includes production credits, cast list and synopsis of scenes, but no cast photos or bios. The backside is blank ..... CONDITION: (Please Note!) There is considerable edge wear with some paper loss including a hole at the top center, heavy creasing and some handwritten notations in pencil on the backside. Despite these flaws, this rare broadside will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
