THERE ARE (12) ORIGINAL B-24J PHOTOS THAT ARE ID'D ON THE REVERSE BY MAJ. CARSWELL HIMSELF! THERE ARE OTHERS THAT ARE NOT ID'D THAT ARE ALSO DIRECTLY FROM CARSWELL. THE CBI BULLION PATCH IS ORIGINAL AND COMES FROM CARSWELL. ON OCTOBER 26TH, 1944 MAJOR CARSWELL AND HIS CREW DEPARTED FOR THE SOUTH CHINA SEA IN A SEA-SWEEPING OPERATION. THEY DAMAGED ONE DESTROYER DURING A BOMBER RUN OF 600 FEET. MAJ. CARSWELL ORDERED A 2ND RUN AND 2 OF 3 BOMBS WERE DIRECT HITS. THEIR B-24J RECEIVED MANY HITS AND CARSWELL PILOTED THE PLANE FROM DROPPING IN THE SEA. REACHING A HIGHER ALTITUDE, HE ORDERED HIS CREW OF 8 MEN TO BAIL OUT. MAJOR CARSWELL STAYED WITH THE PLANE (AND THE COPILOT AS WELL). HE TRIED TO BRING THE BOMBER BACK, BUT IT CRASHED INTO A MOUNTSIDE. There are many original photos of the B-24's, Crew Shots, belonging to that Squadron with writing (on the reverse) in the actual hand of Major Carswell himself. Note: In the photos above, there is a group of (4) "paper" enlargement copies showing Esky, Goon and 80 Days, those are not originals, these just came with the grouping. The January 11, 1945 DFC Document is original. The Group Mission Documents are older copies. There are also letters and copies from Crew members who knew Major Carswell and they shared their stories (interesting reading). See all the photos and ask any questions.
