Description: MERCEDES BENZ W113 PAGODA IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR: APPLICATION: BOSCH DISTRIBUTOR TAG NUMBER : 0231 116 051 CAST IRON -W113.042 230SL from 11/65 -W113.043 250SL All -W113.044 280SL up to 06/69 -W113.044 280SL from 07/69 to 71 : Although the aluminum body distributors were originally installed on these years of production , the cast iron design can be use as a replacement THIS BOSCH DISTRIBUTOR ALSO FITS OTHERS MODELS ; 250SE , 280SE, 300SEL .....1966 TO 1971 FREE IGNITION WIRE SET AND SPARK PLUGS INCLUDED Technical Notes: - Application: Throughout the years from 06/1963 first 230SL to the end of production in 02/1971, Mercedes Benz introduce several changes on the Pagoda ignition system ,the very early 230SL models were equipped with cast iron distributors vacuum advance , by 11/1965 they were replace by cast iron distributors with vacuum retard , those were kept in production for all 250SLs and the 280SLs up to 06/1969 , after that the aluminum body were standard to the end of production ,other modifications include the introduction of the transistorized ignition by mid 1969 , however many cars through the years have been altered either with service replacement distributors from Mercedes Benz or complete engine replacements from the dealerships or other model donors , it is important to make sure that you are getting the correct ignition components for your car application checking, if possible, the Bosch ignition distributor number on the its tag attached to it .( see picture). The use of this distributor for early 230SL models equipped with vacuum retard distributors is not recommended since it would require modifications .
