Description: · This auction is for a good used freshwater Mercury Outboard Control box with the 8 pin harness. This box was working well and came off a 50 hp 2 stroke Mercury outboard (1982 model) that was run without oil, control was working well in all modes. Shift lever moves easily and neutral lock out and detent felt good. Box is in good shape for the age in my opinion. Note someone cut the main cable when derigging this unit, they also damaged the battery cable ends. (I respliced the harness with proper butt connectors and double covered them with heat shrink, taped after the repair. On the battery cables I spliced in new copper connectors with 5/16 inch holes and proper heat shrink). Rest of the harness is good with a few minor scuffs, but no rips or tears, thick harness is stiff though. Comes with one key and backing plate/dust cover, no bolts or cables included. Should work well for any Mercury outboard that takes the 8 pin factory harness with 2 battery cables. I did test it on another 4 cylinder Merc, worked great, cranked engine nicely, choke worked, great spark, and in gear start protection worked as it should. Note this control does NOT have the trim buttons in the handle. If you have power trim you will need to make or buy a harness to run the trim.
