Description: MIB Hobby Boss 1/700 Japanese WW2 I-400 Aircraft-Carrying SubmarineThe I-400 class of submarines were built for and used by the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Second World War. At the time they were the largest submarines ever built, only being surpassed in the 1960's with the advent of nuclear ballistic missile submarines. A particularly unique feature of this class was their ability to launch a number of seaplanes from the upper deck. Being housed in a water tight hangar of sorts, the aircraft would be removed, assembled and then launched whilst the submarine was surfaced. Early in WW2, a floatplane launched from a Japanese submarine bombed an area of Oregon forests setting them on fire on September 9, 1942. This Hobby Boss kit captures in 1/700 scale a detailed rendition of this unusual submarine, which includes accurate conning tower, full hull, and floatplane.Please check the photos provided and let me know if you have any questions.
