After studying with Dale Chihuly at the Pilchuck, Michael moved to Italy and apprenticed with a family of artists who had been blowing glass for over two-hundred years. It was there where he mastered the art of creating color, red specifically. His mastery would help launch a lifelong career in the American studio glass scene that is peerless even today. No one makes red glass like the Nourot Studio. This vase measures sixteen inches wide by fourteen inches tall and is signed and numbered by the artist. It has been gold fumed on the inside which helps capture and magnify the light when spot lit or flooded from the top. Without direct light this piece still looks magnificent displayed in a window that gets lots of natural light. Shortly after retirement and his forty year glass career Michael died May 14th, 2015.
