Description: the d51 is arguably the most famous steam locomotive in Japanese railroad history; it certainly was the most numerous. over 1000 were constructed between 1936 and 1945 primarily by Kawasaki Heavy Industries...used primarily in freight service, the "degoichi", the d51 nickname in japan, served for 40 years, ending its career primarily in Hokkaido island, where electrification of the mainlines occurred last among Japan's 4 main islands......the d51-882 was constructed in 1943 by hitachi and features the unique "deer and moon" decoration on the side smoke deflectors and another chimney mounted deflector......this locomotive is preserved at an ibaraki city park in osaka prefecture, with faint traces of the "deer and moon" decoration still evident...... Micro Ace is one of the dominant triumvirate of n scale manufactures in Japan - Kato and Tomix both being better known outside of Japan....Micro Ace clearly markets the broadest line of locomotives among the 3 and arguably features the finest detail work on their products. i acquired this d51 from a very small reseller in japan who only purveys "unused" railway models .......upon arrival, the model's appearance was prepossessing - clean wheel sets and an unflawed shell........as i had no history of transactions with this provider, i decided on a test run which manifested n scale factored running speed achieved at 32% on the rheostat; operation in both directions was smooth and consistent......the head lamp was comparatively vibrant although the orange characteristic of pre chip led design......the condition of both storage case and model confirm the seller as an "honest broker"........ the only accessory for the set is a rapido coupler for the front end of the locomotive.......the protocol for its installation must be largely intuited as microace provides only a rudimentary sketch for guidance.....
