Description: Original engraving by W. H. Bartlett for Geo Virtue, London. Used to illustrate a series of books titled “American Scenery” and “Canadian Scenery”, published about 1841. Not a reproduction, but an original, removed long ago from the book in which it was published. Bartlett made the drawing on which the etching was based during a visit to America and Canada, 1837-1838. Image size: 7 1/8 x 4 ¾”. Occasional faint spots of foxing but no soil, tears or water stains. A handsome original engraving. Any moire effect seen in scan is NOT in the engraving itself.
