This is a rare, hand painted miniature bronze figurine called “The One the Got Away”, which is an original studio design in miniature based on a fishing experience which features a young fellow and his dog, staring at a fish who has gotten away! It was made by the talented artist Randall Zadar in 2001. It is a permanently retired piece, hand signed and is #23 of 57 figures ever made. It is perfectly scaled to be displayed as a decorative piece within a 1:12 scale room as a shelf sitter, etagere or curio piece. It has been stored all of these years and has never been displayed before so it is in pristine condition painted in full color with Gold Gilt details. This piece was made with great precision by Randall Zadar who undergoes a complex and time-consuming process to create his miniature bronze figures. It begins with sculpting a wax master, which can take up to 200 hours to complete. Once the master is complete, a mold is made and additional wax patterns are produced. These wax patterns are then placed in a flask and encased in a plaster-like material called investment. The flasks are slowly heated in an oven for 12 hours, which melts out the wax and creates a negative cavity in the investment material. The cavity is then filled with molten bronze, which creates the bronze figurine. After the bronze has cooled, it is cleaned and inspected. The figurine is then sandblasted and painted. Finally, it is varnished, numbered, signed, and boxed. Each design is produced in a very small number which is retired shortly thereafter, making them unique and special pieces for a miniature collection.
