Description: Mississippi New State Flag 3x5 2-Ply Polyester Mississippi New State Flag 3x5 2-Ply Polyester Official Mississippi State Flag 2021 Present (Sewn and Embroidered Heavy-Duty Polyester) The Mississippi State Legislature approved and adopted the current state flag design on January 11th, 2021. The design consists of a large white magnolia flower encircled by (21) five-pointed stars with the words In God We Trust rounding out the bottom of the circle. The uppermost center star is gold and consists of five diamond shapes. The diamond shapes reflect the Native American heritage of the state which is important to the Choctaw community there. The remaining stars, representing the fact that Mississippi was the 20th state to enter the union, are slightly smaller and white. The artwork is centered on a blue field flanked on either side by two gold vertical stripes and then two wide vertical red bars on opposite ends of the flag. The flag was designed in 2020 by Sue Anna Joe, Rocky Vaughan, Micah Whitson, Kara Giles, and Daniel Pugh. It was chosen by the Commission to Redesign the Mississippi State Flag, which was established in June 2020. It is also one of only three state flags that bear the words In God We Trust. The other two are the states of Florida and Georgia.
