Description: Here is a functional, ready-to-install mode selector switch for your Browning Golden Eagle Mark 3 SSB transmitter, your Mark 4 or Mark 4A transmitter. They all use the same switch. This one is an upgrade from the original part made with brown phenolic fiber insulators. This one has ceramic insulation. So here's the problem. The original factory part breaks down. The original insulation is brown bakelite wafer. It gets old or dirty, current begins to "leak" between adjacent circuits and it burns a black carbon track that shorts across separate circuits and eventually blows out the coil in the transmitter's meter. If you're really lucky it will also blow out the carrier-balance control and the balanced-modulator tuned transformer. So, does the factory-original mode selector switch ALWAYS break down? It's a mileage thing. Customers who heated their houses with wood had this problem in radios that were not yet 10 years old. Wood-smoke soot building up on the surface of the insulators turns into conductive schmoo when humidity gets high. And if your transmitter has the equivalent of 1000 original miles, it won't be bad. Yet. It's a combination of mileage and contamination. Too much of one, the other or both results in a failed selector. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon. And for the rest of your,,, uh. Replacing the selector is not the only solution. Its the only solution that preserves SSB transmit mode. As I see it only a fanatic wants to restore SSB transmit function in this transmitter. What a Browning does best is AM. Most of the Mark 3 SSB transmitters repaired here the last decade or two has been "hot-wired" to use AM mode only. No more sideband transmit. The matching receiver is the actual handicap. Why spend money to restore SSB transmit when using the receiver is too much like playing a violin to hear the other side of a conversation? This is an original Centralab product. The type number "PA2031" is clearly visible in one of the pics. The item shown is the one you're buying. WHEN YOU INSTALL THIS PART YOU **MUST** MAKE SURE IT'S TURNED THE RIGHT WAY. IF YOU TURN IT 180 DEGREES WRONG IT WILL **NOT** WORK. AT ALL! Just compare the contact arrangement on the rearmost section of the original part to the new one, and you'll see which of two ways to spin it before bolting it down and attaching wires. And if you're up to the extra effort you can buy just the two ceramic wafers alone in a separate one of our sale items. It's about half the price of this complete ready-to-install switch. There are NO RETURNS AT ALL FOR ANY REASON OF ANY KIND!No matter how good they sound. We ship no later than the second business day following receipt of cleared payment. I prefer USPS Grund Advantage. It's been VERY reliable and comes with tracking. I will insure it for the final sale price. IF YOU PREFER A DIFFERENT **USA ONLY** SHIPPING METHOD, CONTACT ME **BEFORE** YOU PAY! I will prepare a quote for the method you specify and send you an invoice for the corrected amount. This option is available to USA destinations ONLY! !!!! NOTE !!!!Shipping to destinations outside the US are by the Ebay GSP or Global Shipping Program. How much that will cost you is anybody's guess. Ask Ebay if you want to know. Maybe they'll tell you. They won't tell me. Maybe they should rename the "GSP" the "Global Secret Program". GSP ONLY!! GSP ONLY!! GSP ONLY!! No, I will NOT ship direct if you are outside the USA and its colonies. GSP ONLY!! GSP ONLY!! GSP ONLY!! If you know what it is and what it's for, you can decide if you want or need it. And if you don't know what it is, you probably don't need it. Trust me on this. All routine Ebay precautions apply. Scammers take your nonsense elsewhere. Please. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
