N scale U.S. COAST GUARD WHITE CLASS BUOY TENDER SHIP BOAT 3-D PRINT UNPAINTED

Description: If you have harbor operations on your layout, then you'll want to take a look at this U.S. Coast Guard White Class 133 ft Buoy Tender. After World War II the Navy transferred several YF-257 Class lighters to the Coast Guard. The Navy had used these as lighters. These are shallow draft vessels were used to lighten loads on larger ship to allow then to come into a harbor where the larger ships might run into draft problems. The Coast Guard made some modifications and used them as buoy tenders . Many served well into the 1990s maintaining buoys in waterways and harbors all over the country. This model comes with two buoys. The modeler has the option to used them as a load on the deck or a waterline model. They would also make good flat car loads. This ship model is also designed as a waterline model. There are quite a few pieces to allow the builder to finish the model as a Navy Lighter or a Buoy Tender. There are peel and stick decals for the USCG version. This model would be at home at any layout's harbor working on buoys or in the lighter role hustling cargo back and forth to larger ships off layout. This would also look good tied up to some of other Coast Guard models like the 82 foot Point Class Cutter released earlier this year. For that reason we've included multiple parts to allow the builder to set up their boat their way. Some assembly and painting required.
