Description: Nancy H Strailey Print Old Mill Water Wheel In Winter 61/100 Framed Matted 21x17 The mat for this picture is burlap. The original for this print appears to have been done in pen & ink. It is signed and numbered by the artist in pencil. I have searched for another one of this print and am not able to find any. Apparently in 1978 she did a drawing of five renewable energy resources which included two with water wheels... this is marked as 200 printed. I can only find one. I believe the availability of this piece is VERY RARE. Even the artist does not refer to these early drawings on her website. She is also well know for her images of carousel horses. These are easier to find and some originals have sold for significant money. About the artist from her own website: Award winning African wildlife artist, Nancy H. Strailey, uses colored pencils on hand made papers from around the world to create her unique and evocative drawings. In an on going exploration of her place in a 30,000 year long continuum of animal and cultural image-makers, Nancy studies animals at sanctuaries and preserves, and most recently through numerous trips to Africa. The drawing process begins by gathering the materials - papers rich in natural color and interesting texture; pencils, lots of pencils, nearly every color of professional - quality pencil in every brand available, and graphite sketches of animals and artifacts which Nancy has gleaned from her travels. Each drawing is designed in a series of planning sketches, which are then combined on the exotic paper the artist feels most suitable. Next careful, light layers of colored pencil are patiently overlaid to achieve the visual richness that is the hallmark of Nancy Strailey's coveted drawings. Condition - This picture is professionally framed and done well. The frame has some dings which could be covered with Old English Scratch Cover. The back paper cover does have some tears in it and discoloration... these do not affect the picture. Please see pictures.
