Titled Keep Your Courage, the album features a diverse range of collaborations and contributions. Merchant produced the album herself and enlisted the help of various artists, including vocalist Abena Koomson-Davis from Resistance Revival Chorus, Celtic folk group Lúnasa, and Syrian clarinetist Kinan Azmeh. Jazz trombonist Steve Davis also provided horn arrangements. Keep Your Courage includes nine original songs by Merchant, as well as a rendition of "Hunting the Wren" by Ian Lynch of Irish band Lankum.
