Description: This listing is for one native made sumac wooden owl from Canada. From start to finish these carvings are done by hand. The Ojibwa artisans source the wood from sumac trees and each piece is hand-carved. The design emphasizes the contrast of the bark pith and the wood grain. The design has a graceful fluidity Nadjiwon, the Ojibwa artist who made these on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario has passed on. When the last of the stock is gone, we will no longer be able to get more. The extra small owls measure approximately 6"-7.5" in length. The can in the photos for size reference is a standard North American pop can. Please note that while similar in design, each carving is unique.
