It was here, where the British Admiral Nelson defeated the Spanish-French armada and became the hero he is known for today. He sank 20 enemy ships, without losing one of his own. Nonetheless he got mortally wounded in the battle, but his victory laid the foundation for Englands naval supremacy that lasted over 100 years.In 1842 a 51 meter high monument was build in his honour in the center of Trafalgar Square in London. He is surrounded by four large bronze lions.The lion is not only the heraldic animal of the British crown, but also of London. Thousands of lion pictures can be found integrated in the cityscape.Instead of using the well-known crossed Barling logo, we chose a sterling silver lion’s head to celebrate the beginning of this new era.
