Description: Here is a nice Niloak Pottery "mission ware" swirl vase with a corset form. It has blue, brick red, gray brown, and white clay colors with good contrast. The interior is glazed with clear blue speckled gloss. Marked with the firm's die-stamped art mark and partial original paper label. It measures 4 1/2 inches in tall and 2 7/8 inches in diameter. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws. In 1909 or 1910, in Benton Arkansas, Charles Hyten developed this swirled hand thrown artware in which the clay colors were mixed and carefully planned in relationship to each other. Some of the other swirl potteries are Ouachita, Ozark, and Evans. A good piece of southern swirl pottery.
