Description: Up for sale is an early Niloak Pottery Missionware (swirl) Shape L B vase standing 6.25" tall. This Arts & Crafts style vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. We're able to date this vase using reprints of old Niloak Pottery catalogs. In Niloak's 1913 catalog (see photos 10 & 11) this shape vase, L B, was offered in sizes ranging from 6" to 12". By the time the 1920 catalog was published (see photos 12 & 13) the alphanumeric designation for this shape vase was changed to L and it was only available in sizes 8" to 14". Also, this vase is not marked with Niloak's impressed name but there is a reason for that too. A lot of Niloak's early Missionware pieces, being made in the mid 1910's, were marked with a paper label. If you look closely you can still see some of the soaked in glue residue, from it's paper label, on the base of this vase.
