I use one of these and it works well. Cuts great for harder skinned veggies like cucumbers, carrots, celery etc. Tomatoes it has a little harder of a time slicing through the skin because it kind of dents it before it cuts into it. I haven't had to sharpen it.....yet. Now, it says "stays sharp forever", and I honestly don't know if that is true or not. I use mine all the time, doesn't need sharpening, but that doesn't mean it won't in the future. All I'm saying is it hasn't needed to be so far. If it does end up needing sharpening one day, being a straight blade, it can be. It's not serrated. Not just for the kitchen, this knife can be used as a fishing knife or bait knife as well.
