Description: -*- This kit is identical to the one depicted, but has buffers and fuel tank printed in gray or black ABS instead of olive drab. -*- This is the THIRD edition conversion kit to transform a K-Line S2 into a unique 1940s era diesel engine-- you will have to supply your own motorized chassis and hardware. This version is modeled after the standard Whitcomb 65-tonner used by the US Army and then bought as surplus by local lines such as the Union Railroad. Many small improvements have been made to bring the model's dimensions as close to 1:48th scale as possible. Each kit consists of the engine body, two buffers, a new fuel tank and two couplers that are drop-in replacements for the K-Line originals (which are often found broken). This version features a super high accuracy body 3D printed using high strength "ABS-like" UV cured resin. The new body consists of 3 overlapping sections which I have assembled for you with an industrial gel adhesive. The buffer, fuel tank and couplers are printed in ABS filament using my tried and true FDM printers. I have included some photos of one of my personal "Mark 1" builds so you can see the improvement in surface quality that the new kit possesses. Ken's Model Miniatures specializes in kits, scale models and custom parts for the hobbyist. All of my models are designed, fabricated and assembled right here in the United States. In addition to model train kits, I also have model cars and planes in multiple scales (including reproduction Tootsietoy, American Flyer and Marx parts), so take a look at my other items and see what I'm offering.
