A wash of gentle colour does something that no words or dramatic re-staging can do, bringing the past and authentic personalities of the period vividly to the present moment. ... It goes far, far deeper than seeing vivid blossom on long dead trees. The essential truth, that these people lived their life in colour, removes distance and collapses time — its confronting, humanising and rather magical. ...A beautifully, carefully curated, well written and technically brilliant book— highly recommended. -- Kya Delongchamps * The Irish Examiner *Incredibly poignant, beautiful photographs of old Ireland, given a modern twist. -- Chrissie Russell * Irish Independent *Fascinating -- Tim Stickings * The Daily Mail *Astonishing * The Irish News *"The rich history of Ireland and its people are celebrated through the colour restoration of images from various walks of life throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Categorising the photographs under the headings of revolution, society and culture, women and children, the Irish abroad and scenic Ireland, each image has been meticulously transformed using a combination of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology and information garnered from the authors own historical research." -- Tom Hurley * The Avondhu * Details ISBN1785374311 Author Sarah-Anne Buckley Pages 304 Publisher Merrion Press ISBN-10 1785374311 ISBN-13 9781785374319 UK Release Date 2022-10-06 Format Paperback Imprint Merrion Press Place of Publication Dublin 4 Country of Publication Ireland Illustrations 170 Plates, color Year 2023 Alternative 9781785373701 DEWEY 941.50810222 Audience General Publication Date 2023-10-26 We've got this At The Nile, if you're looking for it, we've got it.
