Description: old rooftop lightning rod 1910. This is such a great architectural element. Very rare to surface nowadays. Back in the early 1900s and late 1800s you would see several houses with decorative iron railing along the roof tops and Lightning rods throughout. It was in belief that the lightning rod would be available in case lightning were to strike the house it would ground the Lightning bolts in hopes of saving the house from fire. As the years went on this became more of a decorative element and was replaced with updated styles and designs. Nowadays it seems as though they would be more practical it might become more of a trend again. We were able to salvage two of these lightning bolts along with a beautiful railing and two gutter guards off of an old apartment building on Wilshire in Hollywood. They are original to the house and are such a classic Architectural element. Try to include the photos and the details.
