Description: Presented is an early rare antique Siebe Gorman Diving Helmet Co Porcelain Dial from this manufacturing pioneer of diving equipment in good condition as pictured. Dial signed:SIEBE GORMAN & CO. LTD. LONDON Dial is believed to have survived dive bell or submarine service with the Royal Navy stationed in a large marine pressure gauge. Dial face calibrated with two concentric outer scales marked respectively:Hourly Rate By One Minutes ObservationActual Consumption, LITRES.Three small dials are stationed on lower half of face and inscribed: 1500 METRES,1500 LITRES,150 LITRES. Although we have never seen another example, it is believed this dial may be from a 19thC or early 20thC diving bell due to the type of data calibrations. Overall dimensions:8-3/4" Diameter X 3/16" Thick. Please note: Condition good as found, with just some typical minor fading of some markings as pictured with only a couple of very small chips around the top screw hole; hard to see in photos but worth noting. Porcelain dial is in otherwise choice condition; there are no other chips and remarkably no cracks considering its age. Provenance: surfaced from an important Antique Diving Memorabilia Collection down under, Brisbane. Dial could be restored as a gauge or might make an interesting clock face for the enterprising collector. FAQsPlease email any questions before bidding via eBay's 'Contact Seller' link.
