Description: Oman Environment Commemorative Silver Coins set of 6Pcs, Proof High Grade, Very RARE The following year, 2002 G, the Thirty Second National Day was celebrated with a particularly attractive series of six silver one rial coins that depict the richness of nature in Oman. The obverse is identical to that of the regular issue of the previous coin. The reverse margins of all six pieces bear the words 'Environment Collection 2002' in Arabic above and in English below. The first shows two pink flowers surrounded by three green leaves with the single word 'flower' above and below. The second shows a butterfly, its antennae pointing upwards, with red-brown wings, tipped with white and black. The third bears a picture of the colorful hoopoe bird, which is to be seen in many countries of the Middle East, and is notable for its distinctive crest of feathers. The English name 'hoopoe' comes from the Latin upapa, which imitates the bird's three note cry. The fourth bears the image of a brown and black turtle. The fifth shows a picture of a dolphin, in shades of black, grey and white, performing an elegant leap from left to right, with the word 'Dolphin' in Arabic above and English below. The final coin of the series shows the ibex, which, like so much other wildlife in Oman, has been carefully protected from extinction. It is a goat-like antelope that lives in mountainous areas, eating grass and other plants. The ibex on this coin is brown and white in color, with its horns pointing backwards over its head.
